Background
- Service: Project planning
- Industry: Pulp & paper
- Country: Denmark

Valmet, a global leader in process technologies and automation for the pulp and paper industry, was selected to deliver rotary equipment for two upcoming projects.
With their internal project planning department already at capacity, and full-time hiring off the table due to FTE restrictions—Valmet needed a flexible solution.
They turned to Plant Supervision and our PS Engineering service, which specializes in deploying experienced interim engineers and project managers for time-critical, project-based roles.

Challenge
Valmet required two electrical engineers with highly specific experience in rotary equipment for the pulp and paper sector. But beyond technical expertise, the engineers also needed to integrate quickly and effectively into Valmet’s existing team in Copenhagen, something that’s not always guaranteed with traditional contract staffing.
Without the right fit, the risk was not just project delays or planning errors; it was also the risk of misalignment with internal workflows and culture—putting delivery commitments and client trust at risk.
Our solution
While the original request involved two separate roles, Plant Supervision identified a single expert from our workforce who could fulfill both tasks, acting first as installation supervisor and then as commissioning engineer. This not only reduced headcount and cost, but also ensured continuity across project phases, improving communication and accountability on-site.
Following a hands-on orientation at C2CA’s test facility in the Netherlands, our specialist was deployed to Ukraine. Prior to deployment, we carried out a detailed emergency and safety protocol to ensure preparedness in the region.
Our full-service solution also included handling of all visa formalities, payroll, travel, and accommodations.

Results
The project was completed successfully, with our expert remaining on-site for the full 10-day period, from installation through commissioning and handover. By seamlessly transitioning between roles, our interim specialist ensured C2CA met its delivery deadlines as well as fulfilling the operational requirements.
This collaboration highlights the advantages of a flexible workforce model in today’s project landscape, where agility, cost-efficiency, and the ability to scale on demand are more critical than ever.
