A freelancer is self-employed and operates with their own company registration (VAT/TAX ID number). They invoice us for the hours worked, and we forward this invoice to the client.
A project hire, on the other hand, is temporarily employed by us for a fixed period. In this case, the engineer receives a monthly salary during the contract period.
You need experience as an engineer or technical specialist – preferably from projects within energy, automation, infrastructure, or related industries. However, the key is not how many years you’ve worked, but rather that you’re independent, driven, and ready to take on new challenges. We also value strong communication skills and the ability to adapt quickly to new environments. Experience with international projects is an added bonus.
You get access to exciting projects, often in international settings, where your expertise truly makes a difference. Even though you work as a temporary employee, you won’t have to chase assignments or negotiate contracts – we handle all of that. You also become part of a professional team with strong back-office support taking care of everything from travel arrangements to compliance and quality assurance.
It depends on your experience, specialization, and the specific project. Typically, the hourly rate is significantly higher than in permanent positions because you take on greater responsibility and usually work on a project basis. We’re always transparent about pay and conditions, so you know exactly what you’ll get.
We always pay on time and according to the terms in your contract – often monthly in arrears. Our collaboration is built on trust, including financial transparency.
We have a broad client base and continuously match our freelancers with new projects. Many of our partners return, so it’s not uncommon to be offered a new project before the current one ends. You can also choose to take breaks between projects if you prefer – flexibility is part of the model.
We actively work to find the right match – and the closer we collaborate, the better we can plan ahead. While we can’t guarantee continuous assignments, we have a strong track record of keeping our top profiles consistently engaged.
As a freelance engineer, you’re responsible for planning your own vacations. If you’re on-site outside Denmark, you’re covered by PS Engineering’s travel insurance. For projects within Denmark, you’re responsible for your own travel insurance. In case of illness, it’s important to notify us quickly so we can coordinate with the client and find solutions. You’re generally covered by your own professional liability insurance. In some cases, clients may require specific coverage – in those situations, we help ensure everything is in place. If you’re working with us as a temporary employee, different rules may apply – these are agreed upon on a project-by-project basis.
Most freelance engineers handle pension and savings themselves. You also have the option to set up a private pension scheme or arrange one through a company. The same applies to parental leave and holiday pay – we’re happy to offer guidance, but we don’t manage it centrally.
No – PS Engineering makes it easy. You get a clear contract and a dedicated point of contact who helps with all the practicalities. Our back-office support ensures everything runs smoothly, whether you invoice as a sole proprietor, through your own company, or are temporarily employed through us.
We primarily offer time-and-material-based contracts. This provides flexibility for both you and the client – especially in complex projects where requirements can change. It ensures that you’re paid for the actual work you do – with no hidden expectations or rigid frameworks.
Quite the opposite. Interim – or temporary – projects show that you’re versatile, solution-oriented, and used to delivering under pressure. Many of our consultants find their CVs are strengthened by gaining experience across industries and project types. We’re also happy to help you present your experience professionally.
It depends on the project – we have both national and international assignments. We always discuss your preferences and what fits your current life situation. Naturally, the more geographically flexible you are, the greater the chances of finding the perfect project.
Yes. You decide which projects to accept – including the location. We only present assignments that match your skills and your geographic preferences.
No. You’ll have a contact person with us who stays in close touch, and you always have access to support and guidance along the way. Many of our engineers work independently on-site, but you’re never alone. You’ll be part of a strong support system and a broad professional network.
That won’t happen. We take the time to understand both your skills and the client’s needs to ensure the right match. If the scope of the project changes, we help clarify things quickly – so you’re not stuck in an unsustainable situation.
We use a combination of your CV, your preferences, and a detailed conversation about your technical skills and mindset. We have extensive experience matching people with complex projects in demanding technical sectors. When we get the match right, both you and the client have a better experience – and that builds long-term relationships.
Yes. You decide which assignments to take. We never pressure you into anything that doesn’t match your goals or skillset.
Close contact, clear communication, and fair conditions. We believe in long-term relationships and win-win collaborations. You become part of an experienced team, and we’re with you every step of the way – before, during, and after each assignment.
Absolutely! Whether you’re an experienced freelancer or just considering the leap, we can help you get started. We offer guidance on everything from company setup and CV development to insurance and business growth – and we’ll help you quickly get started on your first project.
It’s a valid concern – but most experience the opposite. As an interim engineer, you become part of different teams and projects where you quickly get to know new people. Many of our engineers say they gain a stronger network through their work because they’re constantly meeting new colleagues and partners. And with us, you’re never alone – you always have a dedicated contact person and become part of a broader community with other PS Engineering professionals.
Yes – and many of our engineers do. Projects vary widely, and we always consider your work-life balance preferences. Some assignments require travel, while others can be done locally or even fully remotely. We talk openly with you about what suits your life best – and find projects that match. We understand how important flexibility is – for you and for the client.
