Background
- Service: Project planning
- Industry: Pulp & paper
- Country: Denmark
Valmet, a global leader in process technologies and automation for the pulp and paper industry, was selected to deliver rotary equipment for two upcoming projects.
With their internal project planning department already at capacity, and full-time hiring off the table due to FTE restrictions—Valmet needed a flexible solution.
They turned to Plant Supervision and our PS Engineering service, which specializes in deploying experienced interim engineers and project managers for time-critical, project-based roles.

Challenge
Valmet required two electrical engineers with highly specific experience in rotary equipment for the pulp and paper sector. But beyond technical expertise, the engineers also needed to integrate quickly and effectively into Valmet’s existing team in Copenhagen, something that’s not always guaranteed with traditional contract staffing.
Without the right fit, the risk was not just project delays or planning errors; it was also the risk of misalignment with internal workflows and culture—putting delivery commitments and client trust at risk.
Our solution
Technical expertise is only part of the equation and PS Engineering is based on matching the right people—not just to the task, but to the team. That’s why we always begin with a deep dialogue: understanding not only the scope and skills required, but also the client’s way of working, team dynamics, and company culture.
Because Valmet is a long-standing partner, we already had insight into their expectations, systems, and working style. Within a week of the initial request, we deployed two interim engineers with the precise technical background and the personal and professional competencies, to thrive in Valmet’s environment.
By combining domain-specific knowledge with cultural alignment, our engineers were able to integrate seamlessly into Valmet’s planning department, helping to shape scopes, reduce risk, and prepare both projects for execution.
Blog: Why more companies are "renting" engineers
Results
Both our engineers remained as a part of the Valmet team for eight months. They successfully supported the preparation of two major rotary equipment projects, ensuring clear project scopes and realistic, risk-mitigated planning.
This case reflects the core strength of PS Engineering: delivering fit-for-purpose interim engineers who bring both technical excellence and cultural alignment. In a time when flexibility, speed, and human fit matter more than ever, our approach offers companies like Valmet a smarter way to stay on track—without compromising on quality.
