Background
- Service: Supervisors and commissioning engineers
- Key tasks: Supporting the installation of e-methanol plant
- Country: Denmark
Our client, European Energy, is a leading renewable energy solution provider and entered an agreement to build the world’s largest e-methanol plant in Kassøe, Denmark. When completed, the facility will produce 32,000 tonnes of e-methanol annually and supply heat for up to 3,300 households.
The project’s scale required European Energy to secure interim commissioning leads, electrical supervision, and HSE supervision to meet the project deadline.
Challenge
The PtX industry is only starting to reveal its potential as a viable option for the green transition. The revolutionary technology coupled with the scale of the project in Kassøe, meant that European Energy faced a shortage of candidates with the right qualifications and experience from the industry.
Additionally, hiring permanent staff would lead to a surplus of employees and increased salary expenses after project completion.
Our solution
Despite the unique technology, the PTX industry share similarities with other technical sectors. Our Project Managers, with their technical knowledge and hands-on experience from industrial sites, identified the relevant specialists from our workforce.
“There is no doubt that Kaspers knowledge (Plant Supervision Project Manager) was important in understanding our challenges and identifying the right personnel” – Kent Post, Commissioning Manager – European Energy.
Our specialists possessed experience from sectors such as power plants and refineries, which share related installation practices and HSE requirements with the E-methanol plant. Coupled with our employees adaptability to assimilate to new systems and equipment, meant that they had the right qualifications for the project.
- QA/QC
- Supervision of construction and commissioning
- Prepare and perform commissioning
- Prepare definition for mechanical and electrical completion
It took two weeks from the client’s initial request to the arrival of our first employees. As a part of the solution, we managed all administrative tasks for our staff, prior to arriving on site, including transportation, accommodation, salary and protective workwear. Moreover, we still remain as the primary HR contact for our workforce, allowing European Energy to focus solely on their core business.
