Background
- Service: HSE Manager
- Industry: Data center
- Country: Denmark
This case clearly demonstrates how Plant Supervision’s fast response and detailed candidate screening helped prevent a critical delay at a Microsoft data center.
We quickly placed a fully qualified profile with the mindset and communication skills needed to succeed as HSE Manager. When the project timeline was unexpectedly extended, we adjusted our own planning to allow the HSE Manager to stay on-site for as long as it took to get the job done.

Challenge
HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) has traditionally been a fixed component in the oil and marine industries. But as regulations and ESG requirements tighten and projects become more complex across construction and industrial sectors, HSE is shifting from a “nice to have” to a definite “need to have.”
For our client, who was tasked with delivering a turnkey data center for Microsoft, the need for an experienced HSE Manager quickly became critical. The risk was evident: without an HSE representative, the site could be shut down. However, as they lacked the right competencies in-house, the client turned to Plant Supervision—We responded swiftly and assigned the right candidate within 48 hours.
Our solution
Plant Supervision provided a trained Health and Safety Coordinator, fully equipped with workwear, laptop, and a phone – ready to start work on day 1. The only onboarding required by the client was providing our candidate with access to internal HSE software.
One of the qualities that made our HSE Manager particularly attractive in the eyes of our client, was his experience from HSE projects in the U.S., where safety standards are especially high.
But experience alone is not enough. To excel as HSE Manager, you need to know how to get people on board. In a role where HSE is often met with resistance on-site, it’s not just about knowing the regulations but also about being able to communicate clearly, stay resilient, and find pragmatic solutions without halting progress.
Key tasks
- Daily safety inspections on-site
- Health & Safety Plans (HASP)
- Daily toolbox talks
- Weekly safety meetings
- Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS)
- Reporting to both client and end-client Microsoft
- Site safety inductions for new workers
- Incident reporting (green/red cards leading to actions if needed)
Results
Our HSE Manager has ensured high safety standards and structure for the site personnel. Communication is running smoothly between our manager, client and the end-client, Microsoft. No event has resulted in work stoppages or site shutdowns.
As the project timeframe has been extended due to delays, work is still ongoing, meaning that the client’s need for an HSE Manager did not conclude with the original contract expiry.
Understanding that projects often face unexpected challenges and shifting timelines, we extended our HSE Manager’s contract from 3 months to 1 year—demonstrating our flexibility, adaptability and commitment to supporting our clients for as long as needed.
