Overview<\/h2>\n

The Commissioning Engineer (Mechanical) in the PS department will perform L2 installation verification and L3 equipment start-up and functional testing at the Stargate Norway hyperscale data centre near Narvik. The role focuses on mechanical and cooling systems, including closed-loop liquid cooling for high-density GPU halls, and requires complete, accurate documentation for progression to the next commissioning level. The assignment is expected to run through 31 December 2026, with possible extension.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities<\/h2>\n

– Verify mechanical equipment and piping installation against design documents, P&IDs and isometrics; record deviations and redlines.
\n– Inspect equipment alignment, supports, vibration isolation, access, labelling, valves, instruments, strainers and flow direction.
\n– Witness pressure and leak testing; review certificates and oversee or witness flushing, cleaning, sampling and coolant filling.
\n– Complete and sign L2 checklists, maintain inspection records and raise and track punch items in the commissioning system.
\n– Prepare and conduct L3 start-up activities under site permit-to-work and lockout\/tagout procedures.
\n– Witness vendor start-up of chillers, CDUs, pumps, AHUs, CRAHs and related mechanical equipment; verify operating parameters against design.
\n– Perform equipment-level functional tests, including start\/stop, duty\/standby changeover, alarms, interlocks and fail-safe positions.
\n– Coordinate BMS point-to-point and loop checks, support test and balance, and complete L3 test scripts and handover documentation.<\/p>\n

Required education<\/h2>\n

Mechanical engineering or technician education, marine engineering training, or equivalent practical qualification as a skilled pipefitter or HVAC technician. Relevant hands-on commissioning experience may support an equivalent background.<\/p>\n

Required experience<\/h2>\n

At least five years of mechanical or HVAC commissioning experience, including data centre commissioning. Demonstrated hands-on experience with flushing, pressure testing and equipment start-up is required, as is the ability to read P&IDs, isometrics and control narratives. Candidates must be able to work independently, follow site safety procedures and produce structured commissioning records with minimal onboarding.<\/p>\n

Additional requirements<\/h2>\n

Good written and spoken English is required; a Scandinavian language is an advantage. Before travelling to Narvik, candidates must have a Norwegian D-number with an ID check booked with the Norwegian Tax Administration, a Norwegian HMS card and an A1 certificate. The site assignment follows a three-weeks-on, one-week-off rotation, approximately 180 hours per month; accommodation is provided by the client.<\/p>\n
